PAINTINGS
by
ANICK PITCHER

Working in watercolours, inks and oils I record the lovely wildlife and fascinating farming of rural Perthshire.

Inspiration is all around me, so I'm never short of ideas.

My favourite subjects are the brave little dippers diving into the torrent of the River Ericht, the hard working sheepdogs hurtling after their flocks & families of ducks with the smallest duckling struggling to keep up.

Wherever possible, I add a touch of humour or an interesting twist to the story depicted in my paintings.

About Me

I was born in Paris. From an early age, I was always busy reading and sketching. I've always loved making things too, developing my craft skills as a Scout leader. When I moved to the UK in 1977 I attended Epsom Institute of Art & Design, where I qualified with distinction in fine art and illustration.
I lived in Surrey for 29 years with my husband and children. I continue painting and illustrating books and magazines.
I went back to University to study and was awarded a degree in Occupational Therapy and worked in the NHS in Mental Health.
In 2006 we both took early retirement and happily made the move to Scotland. We enjoy touring the Highlands, taking in the wonderful scenery, wildlife and farmed landscape which inspire me to paint.  Perthshire has everything an artist could desire, mountains, forests, lochs, rivers, wildlife and farm life. After 13 years, I feel really blessed in Rattray where life is slower and people are so friendly. In the last few years I have been concentrating more on my oils and watercolours. With our wildlife always in the front line, I tend to put a little twist in it, adding some humour where I can.
